Blitz of the local police of Reggio Calabria in collaboration with the Asp food hygiene service in the city center (Piazza Genoese Zerbi area). During a service aimed at controlling commercial and public businesses, the agents inspected some premises, discovering a real “horrors bistrot” already known for previous violations.
Within the food preparation laboratory, the hygienic-sanitary conditions immediately appeared “to say the least gruesome”: widespread dirt, flying electric wires and cutter in a state of putrefaction. Yet the dishes intended for unsuspecting customers were prepared there.
The inspection led to the seizure of about half a quintal of dishes ready to be served. Further investigations revealed that the venue was without authorization for the administration of food and drinks, a circumstance that will involve the closure ordered by the competent administrative authorities.
The owner was also contested by the illegal employment of public land due to tables and chairs placed without permission.
During the same evening, always within the checks, another commercial exercise was sanctioned that exposed about half a quintal of goods without any documentation on traceability. Also in this case the kidnapping of the features were triggered and the fine for illegal employment of public land.
In total, the sanctions imposed amounts to over 10 thousand euros, with a total of about a quintal of seized foods.
From the local police command they let the control services continue in the next few days, with the aim of protecting public health and guaranteeing compliance with hygiene-sanitary and commercial standards in the area.
