On Monday morning, December 29, around 4 am, the fire brigade of Gelsenkirchen (North Rhine-Westphalia) received a report that the fire alarm had gone off in a savings bank. At the scene it turned out that there was no fire, but there was a burglary. By drilling a large hole in the wall, thieves were able to gain access to the bank’s safe, after which they made off with a huge loot. In no time they would have stolen tens of millions of euros.
