The Canadian Grand Prix presents a unique challenge for Max Verstappen, who anticipates a fierce battle for a podium finish. unlike previous races, he believes the primary competition will come from Mercedes and Ferrari.
Verstappen’s Focus on Mercedes and Ferrari

“It’s a bit different this time around…if we can fight for a podium with ferrari Mercedes, that already would be a good achievement.”
He downplayed the threat from McLarens, stating his focus remains on other teams, particularly Mercedes, who he expects to be highly competitive this year.”The McLarens go faster. It’s not even in my head. I’m more focusing on the other teams. I know that last year, such as, Mercedes was very strong here. I think if you compare last year to now, maybe they’re more competitive as well. So, it will be hard enough to already fight for a podium.”
Penalty Point Concerns
Adding to the pressure, Verstappen is currently just one penalty point away from a race ban. This precarious situation arose after he received three additional points for his contact with George Russell in barcelona.
Christian Horner, Red Bull’s team principal, has acknowledged the situation, stating the team is prepared should Verstappen face a one-race ban.Horner said the team has “enough drivers” to cope with Verstappen’s potential exit for one race weekend. “Frist of all, [Max receiving a ban is] a situation that we want to desperately try and avoid,” he said. “And should it come, we’ve got enough drivers to draw upon from the pool of Red Bull drivers.”
