For my comic book reading advice, it’s actually a playlist that I offer you: 12 songs, “12 songs that changed their era“, is the subtitle of this book which is simply called “Rebel Songs“. We might as well say it right away, in the track list, not all the tracks are a priori planned to play on the Clasic21 decks. We’re talking about rap, folk, jazz and rock as well as French songs with lyrics. But it’s just as good, because as long as we’re doing it, we might as well open our horizons and go see where our ears might not have taken us.
I must confess that this is the case for me. I won’t reveal which ones, but there are some of these songs that are not part of my musical universe and the book was an opportunity to discover the context, but also, and this is the goal, to listen to them more closely after reading.
From Billie Holiday to Suprême NTM via Angèle, Boris Vian, Bob Dylan, Midnight Oil and Bronski Beat. So there is something for everyone. But what do all these songs have in common? Well it’s simple, they moved the lines and often became the anthems of a generation.
