7 Days to Die announces the end of its Early Access and that the game will have to be purchased again on console
The Fun Pimps have announced the end of Early Access for 7 Days to Die… with controversy included.
The open-world zombie game was originally published in 2013. Now, after eleven years, it will end its early access phase and version 1.0 will be released. The surprise, however, is that they have said that users who bought Early Access on consoles (which was not exactly cheap, costing €34.99) will have to buy the game again if they want the final version.
The developers explain that “due to the significant technical differences between the old and current console hardware we will not update the old version.” This means, in other words, going through the checkout again.
The Fun Pimps says it is “working with Sony and Microsoft to offer a discount to owners of the old digital version when purchasing the new console edition” and that the current version will be removed from stores shortly.
On PC the situation is very different, where users who purchased Early Access will be able to upgrade to version 1.0 at no additional cost. What they will have to do is start their game again, since the current saves “will not be compatible with the many new changes.”
