A tactical shooter based on brutal realism, dynamic weather and teamwork is literally fighting for its last chance. The EXFIL behind the Squad one of its creators stands, yet it has dramatically lost its audience on Steam. The developers are now trying to turn the situation around with a free trial period and a deep discount.

Tactical shooters have always had their audience, even if we are basically talking about the strater genre. However, when too many similar games are released in a short period of time, it’s inevitable that some studios will simply disappear in the noise. This is exactly what happened with Tiny Leviathan.

It was released by the team on December 11, 2024 EXFIL-t, a shot from an insider’s point of view, the main feature of which is ruthless realism. The game is a Squad notes one of his co-designers, and is clearly a classic Delta Force inspired him. Still, the title hit an alarming low this week, with only 15 concurrent players registered on Steam.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the developers resorted to urgent measures to give the game a chance to survive.

The EXFIL therefore, it launched a free trial period in which the entire game can be played at no cost until December 31st. In addition, as part of the Steam Winter Fair, its price has been reduced by 30 percent, so it is available until January 5 for only 13.65 euros. The goal is clear: to lure old players back and attract new ones to its tactical shooting.

During the missions, AI-controlled opponents and other players are also a threat, but the game can also be completed in cooperative mode, which puts a lot of emphasis on coordinated teamwork.

As is often the case with these types of games, especially in early access, it is EXFIL only available on PC. This gives the studio the opportunity to make the most of the gameplay based on precision and tactical thinking.

The realism is truly impressive: the game works with a full 24-hour day-night cycle and a fully simulated weather system. Sandstorms, dynamic fog and heavy rains ensure that no mission is unpredictable.

With the free trial and discount, it is EXFIL now it’s trying to regain attention on Valve’s platform before the end of the year. It remains to be seen whether all this will be enough to survive in a market flooded with more and more similar tactical shooters.
