After a 33-year journey in football, C.J. Mosley is retiring from the NFL. The former Baltimore Ravens linebacker told CBS Sports of his decision. The declaration coincided with Mosley’s 33rd birthday on Thursday.
While he finished his NFL career with the Jets, it was in Baltimore that Mosley became a star. As a rookie, he recorded 133 tackles, three sacks, and two interceptions. During his five seasons and 77 games with the Ravens, Mosley amassed 579 tackles, nine interceptions, and 8.5 sacks.
He then spent five years with the Jets, playing 56 games and making 504 tackles.
An injury-filled 2024 season, where he played only four games and made 17 tackles, marked a difficult end to Mosley’s career. In total, Mosley recorded 1,083 tackles in his NFL career, averaging over 100 per season despite two seasons where he played a limited number of games.
The Ravens selected Mosley as the 17th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Clint Mosley Jr., known for his sideline-to-sideline play and strong hits, also won two national championships with the Crimson Tide in college.
