An investigation is underway following the death of an inmate at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County.
According to the countyS coroner, David Ruth, Alex Deaton was discovered deceased in his cell on saturday evening. Deaton was serving a life sentence.
Deaton had been convicted of murder, drive-by shooting, and motor vehicle theft. In 2017, he was a suspect in connection with two murders and multiple shootings across Mississippi, New Mexico, and Kansas.
His victims included his girlfriend, Heather Robinson, and Brenda Pinter, 69, who was found dead in a Neshoba County church.
