The Limoux tourist office is currently hosting a captivating exhibition featuring the work of Gina Pereira, a resident photographer and artist who has called Limoux home since 2013. Pereira’s passion for art began in childhood, evolving from drawing and painting to her current focus on photography. Her work primarily centers around nature and animals, reflecting a deep recognition for their inherent beauty.

Nature and animals, which have always fascinated me, have gradually become my favorite subjects. I like to bring out the amazing beauty and the singularity of all their being. I wish through my photos to raise public awareness of nature and animals and that each learn to respect them.

From Fine Arts to Photographic Mastery

In 2015, seeking to broaden her artistic horizons and connect with fellow artists, Pereira enrolled at La Fabrique des Arts, the School of Fine Arts in Carcassonne.Her six-year tenure there proved to be a transformative experience, providing both formal training and creative inspiration. It was during this period that her passion for photography truly ignited.

Pereira describes photography as a medium that allows her to “instantly immortalize an expression, a moment, an atmosphere.” This immediate capture resonated deeply with her artistic sensibilities.

To refine her skills in animal photography, Pereira pursued specialized internships with renowned international animal photographers in the Rhône-Alpes region and Paris.this dedication to honing her craft underscores her commitment to producing high-quality, impactful imagery.

A Personal Touch: Photographing Beloved Pets

Expanding her artistic scope, Pereira naturally extended her photography to include pets. Drawing inspiration from her own companions, Dolie, friend, Malou, and Sweet, who served as her first models, she now offers personalized pet photography sessions.

As my creativity and my subjects are not limited, my plan to also photograph pets was born naturally. My bristles, Dolie, friend, Malou and Sweet, where for a long time the first small models in my adventure. My wish is to create for individuals lovely images that highlight their dear little loulous. Each session aims to offer them a pleasant experience and memorable memories.
