A Quebecer with a steel stomach has succeeded in an unusual feat by winning the provincial peppers of strong peppers as well as a spicy chicken wolf eater competition.
“It has never happened or almost in Quebec that someone won the two competitions in two consecutive days like that. I was really proud to have succeeded, ”said Kenny Lamoureux, passionate about this type of competition, who received a scholarship of $ 500 earlier this month.
For more than four years now, the father of the Assumption who works full time as a plasterer sometimes gives the impression of being a real pyromaniac of the taste buds in his spare time, given the quantity and especially the power of the spicy dishes that he is able to ingest.
“I love it, it really gives me a lot of adrenaline. During a bit, I did challenges every weekend to collect points in the League of Fire which is a bit of the professional circuit of peppers. ”
Whoever has more than 20,000 subscribers only on his Facebook page, “Kenny Never Die Lamoureux”, where he regularly performs challenges and presents tastings, also says he ranked second in the world after only a year and a half.
A lot of preparation
As with any competition, this type of competition also requires preparation. He also explains that it will differ according to the test.
“Regarding the challenges of spicy sauces where you have to take shooters, the important thing is to have a good fatty background so I generally eat four or five points of pizza before.”
“When these are rather strong peppers competitions where in the end, they bring you a book of ghost peppersI will not eat in the same way, I will be room, “he continued.
He also wanted to highlight the importance of preparation, as surprising as it may seem. Indeed, an inadequate preparation caused by erroneous information cost him the America championship at the expense of Mike Jack, a Canadian who holds several Guinness records.
Even further
Driven by the desire to promote his Facebook page more, Kenny Lamoureux has also taken up challenges that go much further than the spicy sauce, for example when he had to swallow tarentulas or even dehydrated scorpions for the pleasure of his subscribers.
“It allowed me to expand my audience and possibly I may eat living one day,” explains the one who even ate acid streaming.
It is a fish preserved after a short fermentation whose smell is often described as one of the worst in the world, to the point of seeing airlines prohibit transport in luggage.
Already supported by Shack à Sauce, a shop specializing in pungent sauces and based in Granby, Kenny Lamoureux now hopes that his name will continue to circulate in order to be invited to larger championships and become the Quebec reference when the time comes to talk about spice.
