Las vegas Tourism Declines as Canadian Visits Dip
The policies of donald Trump and rising living costs contribute to a significant slowdown in Las Vegas tourism.
Las Vegas is experiencing a slump in tourism, especially from Canadian travelers.Statistics indicate a notable decrease in the number of Canadians visiting the city [1, 3].
In June, several airlines reported significant drops in passenger numbers to Las Vegas.Air Canada saw a 33% decrease, Westjet experienced a 21% fall, and Flair Airlines had a ample 62% drop.
Lucie Dufault de Mirabel, a frequent visitor to Las Vegas since 1990, noted the change. “I went there in June and I noticed that there where a lot of less Quebecers. Honestly, I would say at least 50% less,” she said.
“Normally, I always come across Quebecers everywhere, in casinos, on motorcycle roads, in restaurants. This time it was clear: there were fewer people in Quebec, but also fewer europeans,” added lucie, who has made 17 trips to Las Vegas.
Fewer Flights Available
There has been a reduction in direct flights from Montreal to Las Vegas. One traveler mentioned, “Friends had to take an evening flight as there were not enough passengers to keep the day.”
The American political climate is also a factor. “I have friends who did not come this year as of politics. It cools people,” one person stated.
