Qatar Mental Health Summit: Addiction Strategy Update – Nasser Al-Din

Wataniya – The Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rakan Nasser Al -Din, participated in the opening session of the sixth ministerial ministerial summit for mental health, whose work was launched today in the Qatari capital, Doha, with the wide participation of Arab health ministers, foreigners, experts and specialists from around the world.

The participation of the Minister of Health comes at the head of a senior delegation from the ministry in this summit, which is held under the slogan “promoting mental health care through investment, innovation and digital solutions” in confirmation of Lebanon’s commitment to strengthening the mental health sector and integrating it as an essential part of the comprehensive health care system.

During his participation in the summit, Minister Nasser Al -Din, the regional director of the World Health Organization of the eastern Mediterranean region, Dr. Hanan Belki, who had made an official visit to Lebanon last July.

The meeting was attended by the Chargé d’Affairs of the Lebanese Embassy in Qatar, Catteen, Watranian, the representative of the World Health Organization in the State of Qatar, the director of the Office of the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Hassan Khair al -Din, the head of the Hospital and District Department, Hisham Fawaz, and a specialized technical delegation from the regional office.

The consultations focused on the need to continue and intensify the technical and logistical support provided by the organization to the health sector in Lebanon, as well as enhancing cooperation to face health challenges, especially in the mental health file that was the focus of the summit.

Minister Nasser Al -Din stressed the importance of “supporting efforts to integrate mental health services within primary health care and update the national strategy to combat addiction substances.” He stressed that “Lebanon’s commitment to international partnership is to pay the accumulated contributions for the organization, which restores Lebanon’s right to vote and full participation within the organization.”
