A war broke out in the Middle East on February 28, which was started by Israel and the United States with airstrikes on Iran. In response, Tehran launches retaliatory strikes against American and Israeli civilian and military targets in the region. It also blocks the Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly a fifth of all oil traded on the world market normally passes.
On Wednesday, Israel attacked Iran’s South Pars gas field, and Iran then struck oil and gas production facilities in Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Qatar is one of the largest gas producers in the world and plays a key role in the global supply of liquefied natural gas. Due to the war, Qatar completely stopped the production of liquefied natural gas, which led to a loss of 20 percent of the world supply of this raw material.
