Putin Meets Syrian President | Kremlin Visit 2024

by Archynetys World Desk

Syrian rebels under Shara, under Shara, occupied Damascus in December and overthrew the longtime president and Moscow’s ally Bashar al -Assad, who has now sheltered in Russia.

Moscow has officially recognized the new Syrian power.

The Kremlin posted a video with the first minutes of Putin and Chara.

Putin said Moscow has always been “guided by the Syrian people’s interests” in his relationship with Damascus, and reminded that this relationship had always been friendly.

Shara, for its part, confirmed that the Syrian authorities would notice all agreements previously reached with Russia.

The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said before the meeting that leaders would also talk about Russian military bases in Syria, set up during the Assad regime.

Russia’s military presence in the country has been reduced, but the base in Hmeimima and Tartus port is still there.

News agency Reuters and several Arab media wrote before the visit that Shara’s talks in Moscow could officially request Assad’s extradition.

Russia intervened in the Syrian civil war on the Assad’s side in 2015.

It was officially based on the fight against the “Islamic State” terrorist organization, but Russian warplanes also struck rebel groups that were not related to the “Islamic State”.
