“Today, the old parties have blocked in the Budget Commission in the Chamber of Deputies, a USR request to call the ASF president, Alexandru Petrescu, as well as to Vice President Sorin Mititelu, in the context of the latest disclosures about the insurance companies.

USR deputy Cezar Drăgoescu has requested the hearing of the ASF management to receive clarifications regarding the solvency and practices of Grawe Romania, Axeria, Eazy, Hellas Direct and Dallbogg, but also information about ASF measures for consumer protection, especially in the context of previous insurance crises ”, a statement of the Romanian Union said.

“By this vote, PSD, PNL and UDMR show that the political protection for ASF works at the highest level. Instead of answering legitimate questions about how insurance companies are supervised and how consumers are protected, it prefers to hide the responsibility under the price. It is a wall of silence around an institution that should be transparent,”

Of the total of those present, 10 deputies voted for the request, while 18 refrained, practically blocking the public debate on the situation of the insurance market and the responsibility of ASF.

USR points out that the lack of transparency and refusal of public hearings risks repeating the crisis scenarios and affecting millions of consumers in Romania again.
