With the PS4 celebrating its 13th anniversary and selling more than 117 million units worldwide, Sony has begun encouraging its players to upgrade to the PS5. PS4 promotional messages recommend moving on to enjoy games such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, ARC Raiders and Ghost of Yotei, while hinting at titles coming in 2026 such as 007 First Light, SAROS and Nioh 3.
Opinions were divided between those who saw the campaign as smart and those who found it to be an interference in their affairs. Sony is adopting this strategy to try to transfer the huge PS4 player base to the new generation, taking advantage of players’ enthusiasm for upcoming exclusive games.
