PlayStation has not presented its own portable console since PS Vita. Although in recent months information has circulated about a possible device based on PS5the company has not made any official announcement. In parallel, some users have developed alternative solutions independently.
one of them is u/wewillmakeitnowa Reddit user who has turned a PS4 Slim into a fully functional portable console. The project, released through Tom’s Hardware, is not the first of its kind, but it does stand out for its level of finish and stability.
For this, the creator has designed and printed uin personalized casing which integrates a 7-inch OLED screen, along with buttons, triggers and sticks. In the rear part it has been incorporated a ventilation system intended to maintain safe temperatures during use. The device includes an automatic shut-off mechanism if certain voltage limits are exceeded.
As the modder himself explains, the design seeks not only to reduce the size of the set, but also to achieve “better energy efficiency and better thermal performance.”
The device is still in prototype phaseso there are aspects pending improvement, especially with regard to ergonomics. The battery is made up of six cells of 21.700 with a total capacity of approximately 130 Whwhich allows a maximum autonomy of up to three hours in undemanding games. In titles with a greater technical load, the duration is reduced to below two hours.
Meanwhile, PlayStation does have PS Portala streaming game-oriented device that allows you to access PS5 titles remotely, although it is not a standalone portable console.
