In the calm of the Bernese Oberland, a historic moment is being born. The performances of Mauro Lustrinelli’s team during this first third of the season can be described as exceptional – and the hope of a major achievement is growing.
After 13 days, FC Thun has 31 points. Since the introduction of the Super League in 2003/04, no other promotion has managed such a performance at this stage of the season. The previous record belonged to St. Gallen 2012/13 with 28 points. Thun therefore clearly surpasses all the best promoted in the recent history of the championship.

Please note:
26 goals after 13 days is the club’s shared record (as in 2018/19).
Defensively too, Thun is better than in the historic 2004/05 season, when it only conceded 10 goals at that time.
What does the 31 point mark really mean?
- In the entire history of the Super League, Thun are only the eighth team to reach at least 31 points after 13 days.
- Of the previous seven teams, six finished as champions, the last being Young Boys in 2018/19 (34 points).
- The only exception: GC in 2012/13 (32 points).
- Furthermore, 31 points are almost always enough to ensure maintenance – like Vaduz in 2014/15.
- Away, Thun impresses: 18 points in seven trips (6 W, 1 D). Such an initial performance had only been achieved by three teams:
Basel 2003/04, Basel 2016/17 and YB 2018/19 (19 points).
All three finished as champions.
Forecast model: Thun now favorite for the title
According to Opta’s prediction model, FC Thun are currently the main favorites for the title.
The probabilities below are based on the regular season, before the split into two groups.
Final rankings prediction (November 11, 2025)
The model is clear:
Thun now has a more than 70% chance of finishing the regular season in first place.
The probability that the promoted person leaves the Top 6 is less than 0.1%.
A team that pushes the limits
FC Thun exceeds all expectations – statistically, historically and sportingly.
It’s still impossible to say whether the season will turn into a real fairy tale. But the first 13 days offer enough arguments to speak of one of the most impressive starts to the season ever achieved by a promoted player in the Super League.
