Adobe has significantly increased the publication frequency for new versions of its cut program Premiere Pro – an update is now emerging every 2 months. The premiere Pro 25.4 just published brings a whole range of improvements-overlays can now be applied to several clips at the same time, audio wave shapes can be processed live and arriraw files are reproduced with 60 % of the original file size.
A clear performance jump in the coding and decoding of H.264 and HEVC-compressed 10-bit 4: 2: 2 videos should be available with the new version on systems with Nvidias Blackwell-GPUS (i.e. the GeForce RTX-50 models), because this is now accelerated by hardware. In addition, the reactionability of the cutting window was optimized, which should reduce the waiting times to milliseconds.
Here are all the innovations in detail:
Live representation of audio wave shapes
Table of Contents
One of the innovations in Premiere Pro 25.4 is the live processing of wave shapes. The audio wave shapes now remain permanently visible in basic machining actions-such as ripple, roll-edits or the rate-stretch function-and are updated in real time. This enables direct visual control over the time course of audio traces, especially with rhythmically relevant cuts. This is supplemented by the simultaneous representation of keyframes and brands, which allows more precise navigation and management of audio effects.

More efficient work with overlays
A central update concerns the processing of several overlays. Users can now apply, edit or remove them to several audio or video clips at the same time. The overlarting handles can be adapted collectively – a significant improvement compared to the previous individual processing. This innovation should bring savings in particular for projects with many clips or standardized transitions.
The new focal functions at an overview
– Applying and editing overlays on several clips
– Collective work with pulling handles and cutting tools
– Collective removal of transitions
– Optimization for linked and grouped clips
– Key -controlled fine tuning of individual overlays despite the link
– Support for in-and-offs regardless of clip orientations in the cutting window

Improved performance in the cut window
The playback performance and visual feedback on the cut window were also revised. Using stable thumbnails, it can now be navigated more smoothly by extensive sequences. Three new display modes – beginning/end, only start or continuously – offer extended control over the display of the thumbnail views.
New hardware support and optimized formats
Premiere Pro 25.4 now supports the hardware acceleration in compression and decoding by the Nvidia Blackwell GPUs of the new GeForce RTX 50x graphics cards for 10-bit 4: 2: 2 H.264 and HEVC media.
Support for Arriraw-HDE decoding
In addition, the decoding of Arriraw-HDE (High Density Encoding), a loss-free compression process for Arris RAW material, was optimized so that Arriraw is now played with 60% of the original file size.

Graphics settings and subtitle handling
In the Motion Graphics area, the establishment of standardized graphic elements was simplified. New default settings can be used to determine standard fonts for texts, subtitles and closed captations. The frequent problem of incorrectly formatted CEA-708 subtitles in the 16: 9 format was also addressed: automatic adjustment now ensures a correct display according to import.
Further innovations in premiere per 25.4
– Effective control: improvements in keyframing behavior
– New keyboard commands: quick accesses for mute/solo mode of traces
– Adobe stock integration: Direct access to stock media via the file menu
– Improvements in the model of generative expansion, including extended frame rate support.
-New support for 16-bit PNG images to support newer HDR workflows that require the media with high BIT depth. In addition, the processing of data range and color metadata for DNXHR, DNXHD and PNG has been improved
