Prague Dorm Fire: Evacuations & Rescues Reported

The fire started in the dormitory named Na Větrníku shortly before half past three in the morning. The fire engulfed one of the rooms in the multi-storey building. Firefighters wrote on the X network that they managed to put out the fire with one stream, then ventilated the entire building and searched for hidden sources.

“121 people were evacuated from the building, another 16 were rescued, one person was handed over to the rescue service,” said fire brigade spokesman Miroslav Řezáč.

Firefighters sent units to the scene in the second stage of the fire alarm. Together with them, the police and emergency services intervened. In addition to the normal crews, it sent two cars for emergencies, there was also a bus.

Firefighters provided thermal comfort to all evacuees and the emergency services checked them.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
