President Prabowo Subianto met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at teh constantine Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

According to footage from The Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, a car carrying Prabowo, bearing Indonesian flags, arrived at the constantine Palace around 2:00 PM local time. Prabowo,wearing a gray suit,exited the vehicle and was greeted by officials before entering the palace for the meeting with Putin.

The two leaders shook hands warmly as they met.

Putin greeted Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Foreign Minister Sugiono, who were also present for the official visit. He then invited Prabowo to sit beside him, expressing his pleasure at the meeting.

“Mr. President I respect, I am very happy to meet the President at st. Petersburg,” Putin stated at the beginning of their conversation.

Putin Hopes for Indonesia’s Contribution to BRICS

“Indonesia is a full member at BRICS and my hope that Indonesia will make a big contribution to the activities of this organization.”

Putin addressed Indonesia’s membership in BRICS, expressing his hope that Indonesia would make a significant contribution to the organization. “Indonesia is a full member at BRICS and my hope that Indonesia will make a big contribution to the activities of this organization. We are very happy to meet with you here, welcome,” Putin said.

Prabowo thanked Putin for the invitation to visit Russia. “I also thank you again, before I was appointed, I was received last year and this was my official visit as President of the Republic of indonesia,” Prabowo stated.

prabowo also expressed his gratitude for Russia’s support of Indonesia’s full membership in BRICS.He noted that he had wanted to attend the Kazan Summit but was unable to due to his cabinet inauguration. “In fact, I want to attend directly at the Kazan Summit (16th BRICS Summit). But at that time I was only inaugurated one day and I had to inaugurate my cabinet,” he said.

Prabowo’s Visit Includes Economic Forum

prabowo’s state visit to Russia took place from June 18-20,2025. Prior to meeting Putin, he laid a bouquet of flowers at the Piskarovskoye Memorial Cemetery in St. Petersburg as a sign of respect.

On Friday, June 20, 2025, Prabowo is scheduled to speak at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SpIEF) 2025, a forum for global leaders and stakeholders in the global economy.
