The french Gazon Hockey Championship, hosted by the Lambersart club over the weekend of May 31 and June 2, saw the Port USP Hockey team achieve a remarkable feat. The team secured the title of vice-champion of France, a first for any team from Reunion Island. The tournament was a significant event, showcasing talent from various participating teams.

The competition began with a challenging match for the USGP, resulting in a 4-1 loss against the Douai team.However, the team rebounded in their second match, drawing 3-3 against the Orleans team, demonstrating their resilience and adaptability.

Their determination paid off in the return match against orleans, where the USGP clinched a decisive 4-2 victory. This win boosted the team’s confidence as they prepared for their final match against Douai. Despite a tough contest, the USGP held their ground against the French champion for a half-time, eventually succumbing to a 2-0 defeat.

Culminating in the vice-champion title,the tournament also saw USGP Hockey player,Johannick Futol,recognized as the top scorer. This dual achievement marks a significant milestone for Reunion Hockey, enhancing its reputation on the national stage.
