USGP Hockey secures Vice-Champion title at French Championship

Reunion Island’s USGP Hockey team achieves historic success at the French Gazon Hockey Championship, marking a significant milestone for the club and local hockey.
The french Gazon Hockey Championship, hosted by the Lambersart club over the weekend of May 31 and June 2, saw the Port USP Hockey team achieve a remarkable feat. The team secured the title of vice-champion of France, a first for any team from Reunion Island. The tournament was a significant event, showcasing talent from various participating teams.
The competition began with a challenging match for the USGP, resulting in a 4-1 loss against the Douai team.However, the team rebounded in their second match, drawing 3-3 against the Orleans team, demonstrating their resilience and adaptability.
Their determination paid off in the return match against orleans, where the USGP clinched a decisive 4-2 victory. This win boosted the team’s confidence as they prepared for their final match against Douai. Despite a tough contest, the USGP held their ground against the French champion for a half-time, eventually succumbing to a 2-0 defeat.
