Instant messengers are a means of mass communication in Germany. 91 percent of the people surveyed for Statista Consumer Insights in this country use this form of communication regularly. The most popular are WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger – both part of the Facebook group. Meanwhile, in recent years, numerous users have switched to the competition, especially Telegram. In addition, the signal, which is considered particularly secure, has also grown significantly. The Swiss messenger Threema, on the other hand, was able to benefit significantly less.
