Poilievre US Trip: Skipping Washington DC

by drbyos

OTTAWA — Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is heading to the United States for several days of meetings, but his itinerary does not include a stop in Washington, DC

Mr. Poilievre’s office said he will spend Friday and Saturday in Windsor, Ont., and Detroit.

He is expected to travel to Houston and Austin, Texas, early next week to meet with energy sector representatives.

He will end his trip with a stopover in New York, where he will present his vision of relations between Canada and the United States at an event organized by the Foreign Policy Association.

Mr. Poilievre mentioned in a recent interview that he did not travel to Washington to meet with American lawmakers because he believes Canada should have one prime minister at a time.

This is his second international trip as opposition leader, following trips to the United Kingdom and Germany last week.
