Table of Contents

Empowering Citizens Through Climate Action
In commemoration of the 55th anniversary of Earth Day, Pohang is set to host its annual Climate Change Week from April 21st to 25th. This year’s event aims to heighten public awareness regarding the escalating climate crisis and promote widespread adoption of carbon-neutral practices within the community.
Theme: Climate Behavior – Adaptation in Daily Life
Under the banner of Climate Behavior! Adaptation in Daily Life,
the week-long initiative will feature a diverse array of programs designed to educate and empower citizens. The focus is on demonstrating how individual actions can collectively contribute to meaningful climate solutions. This approach aligns with growing global recognition that grassroots movements and individual responsibility are crucial in addressing climate change. For example, according to a recent study by the IPCC, changes in individual behavior, such as dietary choices and transportation habits, could reduce global emissions by 40-70% by 2050.

event on April 22nd. For ten minutes, the landscape lighting of prominent public institutions, including Pohang City Hall, and landmarks like Cheoho Park space Work, will be switched off. This gesture serves as a visual reminder of the need to conserve energy and reduce our environmental footprint.
The Power of Small Actions
The core message of pohang’s Climate Change Week is that even seemingly insignificant actions, such as choosing public transportation or using reusable containers, can have a substantial impact when adopted collectively. These climate behaviors
represent a shift towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious way of life.
Climate behavior is a small behavior of everyday life that anyone can easily practice, such as public transportation or multi -container use.
