ForlƬ Grapples with Traffic Amidst Construction Projects
Roadwork and PNRR-funded projects create a “perfect storm” for commuters.
FORLĆ – Road construction and infrastructure projects are causing significant traffic disruptions in ForlƬ, according to Councilor for Roads, Giuseppe Petetta. multiple construction sites, including those on via Bertini and via Colombo, are underway, leading to increased congestion and longer travel times for residents.
According to Councilor Petetta,the construction on via Colombo was initially planned for the summer but faced delays. The urgency to complete the Interventions financed by the PNRR by June 30,2026,is contributing to the overlapping of projects. “I frequently enough say it: we are experiencing the perfect storm,” he stated.
The ongoing work on the final stretch of the ring road, involving the closure of several junctions, is exacerbating the traffic situation. this has resulted in a level of traffic not seen in the city for quite some time.
While acknowledging the increased travel times, Councilor Petetta noted that “ForlƬ has accustomed us very well: its conformation and its size allow an extremely rapid crossing, therefore even a few minutes more than usual they create discomfort. On balance, however, we are not talking about unsustainable travelers: there are slowdowns in some areas for about twenty minutes in the morning and then again in the evening”.

Along with the aforementioned projects, the construction of a cycle path on Viale Corridoni, near the prison, has led to alternating one-way traffic. Councilor Petetta clarified that once the cycle path is completed, the road will revert to its original double-meaning configuration by autumn.
Furthermore, private construction on viale dell’Appennino, approved by the Municipality, is underway to improve the intersection’s viability.Works by Hera on via Buonarroti and viale Roma, near via Cerchia, are also modifying traffic patterns as they remediate the gas network and remove asbestos. “Other similar construction sites, which however always have a contained duration, will also be open in the future also in other areas of the city,” said Petetta.
The Municipality is also proceeding with sidewalk repairs in flooded neighborhoods, currently focusing on via Padulli, with assurances that these works will not interfere with traffic flow.
