This significant investment underscores the government’s dedication to fostering a conducive learning environment for students of all ages. The funding will support a range of projects, including the construction of new schools and kindergartens, the renovation of existing structures, and the creation of modern sports facilities.

Targeted Investments: Municipalities and Higher Education Institutions Benefit

A ample portion of the allocated funds, exceeding BGN 3.1 million, is earmarked for specific projects in three municipalities. These projects include the construction of a new kindergarten in Plovdiv, alongside the refurbishment of a gymnasium and the addition of new classrooms at the Yane Sandanski Primary School. Furthermore, the village of Sotrya will benefit from a newly constructed kindergarten building, while Sofia University “Vasil Levski” in Ruse will see the addition of a new study building.

In addition to municipal projects, over BGN 1.6 million is being directed towards the expansion and renovation of three public high schools and nine municipal schools and kindergartens. These improvements encompass the construction of new academic wings and outbuildings at institutions such as the Varna Trade High school “Georgi Stoykov rakovski,” the National Mathematics High School “Acad.Lyubomir Chakalov,” and the 134th Dimcho Debelyanov High School. These investments aim to modernize facilities and enhance the learning experience for students.

Enhancing Physical Education: Upgrading Sports Facilities Nationwide

Recognizing the importance of physical activity in student growth, the government is allocating over BGN 21 million for the construction and complete renovation of sports grounds and gymnasiums at 22 state vocational high schools and 166 municipal schools. This initiative will provide students with access to modern, safe, and well-equipped facilities, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. improving Student Living Conditions: Modernizing Dormitories

A significant investment of over BGN 11 million is dedicated to improving the living conditions of students in higher education. This funding will support the repair, renovation, and design of 11 student dormitories across nine higher education institutions. The upgrades will focus on creating modern social and everyday living spaces for students, ensuring an accessible environment for individuals with disabilities. Furthermore, energy efficiency measures will be implemented to reduce the cost of maintaining these facilities, contributing to long-term sustainability.

These improvements are crucial, as comfortable and well-maintained living spaces can substantially impact a student’s academic performance and overall well-being.A 2024 survey by the National Student Council revealed that students living in renovated dormitories reported higher levels of satisfaction and academic success compared to those in older facilities.

A Strategic Investment in Human Capital

By providing students with access to modern, well-equipped learning and living environments, the government aims to empower them to reach their full potential and contribute to the nation’s economic and social development. The long-term benefits of this investment are expected to be significant, fostering a more skilled and competitive workforce and enhancing Bulgaria’s position in the global arena.
