The Aitana Foundation: A Beacon of Hope

As the founder of the Aitana Foundation, Dzib has become a vital source of support for over 500 young patients and their families. The foundation provides thorough assistance, addressing emotional, psychological, and physical needs during an incredibly challenging time. This recognition underscores the significant impact of her 13 years of service to a vulnerable population.

The Distinguished Quintanarroense medal is awarded to women from Quintana Roo who have excelled in various fields, including social work, politics, economics, science, sports, and culture. DzibS dedication to the well-being of children with cancer has made her a role model within the community.

This medal is not only mine, it is one of each child who has touched the bell of victory, of each mother and father who have seen in our eyes the promise that they are not alone. Today I reaffirm my commitment to continue fighting and make childhood cancer not a sentence of fear or abandonment.

Comprehensive Support Programs Offered by Fundación Aitana

the Aitana Foundation provides a wide array of services,including healthcare assistance,transportation,nutritional support,lodging at the Aitana house,and recreational activities. These programs aim to alleviate the burdens faced by families navigating the challenges of childhood cancer.

In the past year alone, the foundation has aided 273 patients, thanks to collaborations with national and international organizations and fundraising efforts that have generated over 8.5 million pesos. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia remains one of the most prevalent diagnoses among the children they serve. According to the World Cancer Research Fund international, leukemia is the most common cancer in children, accounting for almost a third of all childhood cancers.

From Personal Loss to a Legacy of hope

The Aitana Foundation’s origins are rooted in a deeply personal tragedy. In 2002,Yusi Evelyn and her family confronted the devastating reality of her daughter Aitana’s leukemia diagnosis. Aitana bravely fought the disease for nine years, but sadly passed away in 2011.

Driven by her own experience, Yusi transformed her grief into a powerful force for good. The Aitana Foundation was established to provide not only medical assistance but also a haven of hope for families facing similar circumstances. Her work exemplifies how personal pain can be channeled into a lasting legacy of compassion and support.
