Place-des-Arts Metro Attack: Latest Updates

A 30-year-old man was injured by a stab following an attack that occurred at the Place-des-Arts metro station in Montreal on Saturday evening.

Authorities were called to Rue de Bleury, near Boulevard de Maisonneuve, in the Ville-Marie district, around 10 p.m.

They found a 30-year-old man conscious at the scene with an upper body injury. He was transported to a hospital center where there is no fear for his life, confirmed Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).

The suspect reportedly fled on foot before the police arrived. No arrest was therefore made.

The Place-des-Arts metro station was also closed for approximately 45 minutes, indicated the Société de transport de Montréal on X. No trains stopped there.

The cause behind this event is unknown.

A scene was erected to allow investigators and experts to better understand the circumstances behind this armed attack. Possible surveillance cameras could be observed.

An investigation is underway.
