Google has already announced that the Pixel Watch 4 will be easier to repair. The experts at iFixit have now taken the smartwatch apart and come to a clear conclusion: the Google watch is said to be “the most repairable smartwatch on the market”.
That’s why the Pixel Watch 4 is so easy to repair
According to iFixit, a lot has happened inside the Pixel Watch 4. Google is said to have dispensed with glue and instead relied on visible screws and replaceable seals, thanks to which repair experts can quickly and easily access the inner workings of the watch. Nevertheless, it remains protected from water and dust.
Overall, the Pixel Watch 4 earns a preliminary rating of 9 out of 10 points. This puts it particularly ahead of the Apple Watch Ultra 3, which only received 4 points from iFixit (view at iFixit).
iFixit further explains that for a perfect rating, Google would have to publish the smartwatch’s plans and lower the price of the display. Due to the high cost, many would still choose not to repair it.
Pixel Watch 4: What advantages do customers have?
The fact that the Pixel Watch 4 is easy to repair is a commendable step towards greater sustainability and also has advantages for customers. If the smartwatch breaks, you can have individual parts such as the battery or screen replaced instead of having to replace the entire device. That saves money. However, if you are not a professional yourself, it is better to leave the repair to the experts.
The display of the Pixel Watch 4 is slightly larger compared to its predecessor and can be loaded faster. The smartwatch can also connect directly to satellites. This means you can make an emergency call even without a mobile phone or WiFi network. However, Google continues to forego wireless charging.
