by Archynetys News Desk

Committed as part of Pink October, an event dedicated to the prevention and detection of breast cancer, the staff and students of the Faculty of Health raised 2,702 euros. The check presentation for the benefit of the Maine-et-Loire Cancer League and the Women’s Committee 49 took place Thursday, November 20.

Once again, the program concocted by the Faculty of Health on the occasion of Pink October from October 7 to 9 was considerable: self-palpation workshop, sale of roses, ribbons, cakes, make-up remover cottons made by volunteers from the League against Cancer and socks, relaxation session, hair donation thanks to the arrival of the Terrade hairdressing school…

This mobilization made it possible to collect 2702 euros, officially presented to the two associations on Thursday November 20. “ I am delighted that this event gave rise to a wonderful outpouring of generositygreets Cédric Annweiler, dean of the Faculty of Health. Thanks to all the students∙es and staff of the Faculty, we are a beautiful community, united and involved. » « A huge thank you, your commitment was remarkable, you showed creativity and generosity. Let’s keep moving forward together », says Isabelle Campora, treasurer of the Women’s Committee 49.

Finally, Pierre-Marie Pabot du Chatelard, general secretary of the Maine-et-Loire Cancer League, adds: “ It’s a very beautiful movement, very dynamic. It’s great that this university is united on a generous action. This money will be used to finance cancer research, carry out prevention, and run workshops for victims’ loved ones.. »

Several new features were to be noted this year: the Institute of Health Biology (IBS) committed itself for the first time to raising awareness among its staff about breast cancer screening; General Medicine students were also there to host a quiz; the Midwifery department of the Faculty of Health has integrated self-palpation into its educational model; and a solidarity garage sale made it possible to collect donations. The organizers now aim to expand their actions outside the Health campus.
