AVEZZANO – The exceptional story of life, study and diligence of the world-renowned economist Piero Cipollone, Today member of the Executive Committee of the European Central Bank (institutional body responsible for EU monetary policy) becomes one “special lesson” aimed at all students of Avezzano and Marsica. This will be the beginning of a great adventure, which will start from the stage of Marsi Theatre, next November 15th, to reach with mind and heart until Frankfurt.
The event, which was conceived, created and organized by“A. Torlonia-B. Croce” higher education institute of the city, is characterized by its broad social and educational value. “Marsica in Europe – dialogue with the economist Piero Cipollone”: this is the title not only of an initiative, but of a close dialogue between an icon ofinternational economy, which was formed right in Avezzano during the years of his youth, and the young people of the area.
“Kids, today more than ever, need an injection of ambition – declares the deputy mayor of Avezzano, Domenico Di Berardino, delegate for school policies – That is, they must understand that they can overcome all the limits they want, thanks to the exercise of enviable qualities, such as perseverance and determination, but above all thanks to the courage to go against the grain often and willingly compared to the masses. The story of our fellow citizen, originally from the hamlet of Cese, is a light on possibilities”.
The meeting will begin at 10 am and will be attended by the director of the regional school office, Massimiliano Nardocci. “I thank the municipal administration – adds the director of the “Torlonia-Croce” high school, professor Annamaria Fracassi – and above all the mayor Giovanni Di Pangrazio, for having sponsored the initiative and for having immediately believed in this wonderful opportunity for all-round growth.
The event it is also part of an even more extensive and broad range of projects of our school, with the common objective of promoting the territory and making known the know-how linked to our quality education.” Cipollone, in fact, he is the “son” of a humanistic culture that he learned in Avezzano, as a student of the “Alessandro Torlonia” Classical High School.
During the event, the career of the well-known economist will be retraced through the stages of his training journey, which flew from Cese to the United States of America”. Dr. Cipollone will illustrate highly topical issues such as the study and introduction of the digital euro, i.e. a unified payment solution for all citizens of the European Union; an instrument on whose implementation the Avezzano economist has put the greatest effort.
“That brilliant boy originally from Cese di Avezzano and hungry for knowledge managed to become first President of the INVALSI research institute and then Executive Director at the World Bank, representing Italy. How did he do it? We’ll ask him next Saturday, together with our kids”, concludes the deputy mayor.
