Tonight on MasterChefjudges Gordon Ramsay, Tiffany Derryand Joe Bastianich pulled the Top 10 duos out of the MasterChef kitchen for their first team challenge. In a stunning pier-side setting, the two teams were tasked with feeding over 100 local fishermen and women. Both teams found themselves in choppy waters as the weather took a turn for the worse and relationships started to show strain.
The all-new “Pier Pressure” episode of MasterChef: Dynamic Duos aired Wednesday, June 25 (8 p.m. ET/PT) on Fox. See our full recap below.

The Challenge
After arriving at a pier, the contestants learn they’ll be feeding a group of hungry fisherfolk — 101 of them, plus their families!
The competitors are divided into two teams, each consisting of five duos, and are tasked with creating a mouthwatering seafood dish. The stakes are high: the winning team earns immunity, while the losing team’s duos face off in a dreaded Pressure Test back in the MasterChef kitchen. At least one duo will be eliminated.
As the winners of last week’s challenge, Rachel and Julio gain a significant advantage — they get to select their teammates. They choose Adam & Joel, Tina & Aivan, Jessica & Jesse, and Zach & Michelle to form the Red Team. This leaves Azu & Javier, Darce & Courtney, Kayla & Ryan Kate, Timothy & Athena, and Tonne & Cait as the Blue Team.
Each team nominates their captains: Rachel & Julio take charge of the Red Team, while Timothy & Athena step up for the Blue Team. With Gordon and Tiffany observing the kitchen dynamics and Joe managing the dining room, the teams must prepare a test plate within 30 minutes before service begins in just one hour.
Red Team Menu: Battered Cod Tacos with Roasted Corn Salsa, Avocado Crema, Pickled Onion, Smokey Beans, and Green Salsa
The judges are quick to critique the test plate. Gordon points out that the fish lacks proper seasoning and calls the sauce “too sweet.” He notes that the smoky and sweet flavors in the dish aren’t working together and says the overall balance needs improvement.
Blue Team Menu: Pan-Seared Bass Sandwich with Tomatoes & Onions, Tartar Sauce, Citrus Slaw, and Fried Sweet Potato Chips
The Blue Team’s test plate receives mixed feedback. Gordon applauds the perfectly cooked fish but calls the sweet potato chips “a soft, greasy mess.” Joe suggests adding fried onion rings to the sandwich to enhance its texture. The team takes this advice and begin making adjustments.
As service kicks off, the rain intensifies, adding chaos to the already high-pressure challenge. The Blue Team struggles early, with Ryan Kate failing spectacularly at the fish station. This ain’t Masterchef Junior anymore! Eventually, Ryan Kate is moved to frying the chips, but her struggles continue, and the chips remain soggy. To make matters worse, she collapses mid-challenge, fainting from the stress and relentless rain.

The Winners
Despite early critiques, the Red Team’s revisions paid off, and they delivered flavorful, balanced tacos — winning the majority of the votes.

The Blue Team fell short, with soggy chips and bland coleslaw sinking their dish. Joe criticized the sandwich concept itself, labeling it flawed from the start.
Next Week
The Blue Team’s duos – Azu & Javier, Darce & Courtney, Kayla & Ryan Kate, Timothy & Athena, and Tonne & Cait – will face off in a high-stakes Pressure Test, where at least one pair will be sent home.
