A painting by Pablo Picasso was vandalized by environmental activists at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in downtown Montreal on Thursday.
The incident occurred around 10:40 am when three activists entered the second floor of the museum. One of them sprayed pink paint on Picasso’s 1901 painting, Hetaire.
Museum security intervened swiftly, but the damage was done.
Police arrested all three suspects at the scene.Authorities report that one individual sprayed the paint while the other two filmed the act.
Last Generation Canada claimed responsibility for the “coup de radiance,” adding to their list of similar actions in Montreal recently.
