Mobile Phone Removed from Patient’s Stomach After Two Years

A medical team in Egypt successfully removed a mobile phone from a patient’s stomach after it had been lodged there for two years. The procedure was performed at Al -Azhar University Hospital in Assiut.
The patient went to the liver,digestive system and endoscopic department at Al -Azhar University Hospital complaining of chronic stomach pain. According to his medical history, he had swallowed a mobile phone. Tests and radiology confirmed the presence of a foreign object in his stomach.
The medical team, led by Dr. Khaled Abdel -azim, head of the department, Dr. Mohamed Fakhry, head of the endoscopic unit, dunkir Amr Metwally, assistant professor, and Dr. Ahmed Fathi, a teacher of the digestive system, along with resident doctors, anesthesiologists, and nurses, successfully extracted the phone using an upper endoscope. No surgical intervention was required.
The patient is now in stable condition and is under medical follow-up.
