‘Phineas and ferb’ Returns After a Decade with New Episodes

LOS ANGELES – Get ready to relive your childhood! The beloved animated series Phineas and Ferb is making a comeback this summer after a 10-year hiatus, with brand-new episodes promising the same quirky adventures that fans adored.

Co-creator jeff “Swampy” Marsh has revealed a minor update to Phineas’s look, stating, “The more observant of you will notice Phineas’ shirt has one extra stripe.” According to Dan Povenmire, Marsh’s creative partner, “He hasn’t actually gotten any taller, but we’re giving him the illusion of getting taller.”

Aside from Phineas’s updated wardrobe, the show will retain all the familiar characters, including Perry the Platypus, dr. Doofenshmirtz, Candice, and Buford.

Povenmire admitted to initial concerns about the creative process, wondering: “We were a little worried at first, like are we going to get in the writer’ room and just get a lot ‘no, did that.’ ‘Did that.’ ‘Did that’.” Fortunately, he added, the new episodes are packed with “great, fresh, new stories with these characters that we’re just thrilled with.”

A Return to Classic Hijinks

the series reboot sees Phineas and Ferb back to their summer vacation adventures,with Doofenshmirtz resuming his villainous schemes – even updating his social media to “Evil Again.” Candace is, of course, still determined to bust her brothers.

“Isn’t it great? It’s like old times,” says Doofenshmirtz.

The first two episodes of the 40-episode order will premiere on June 5th on Disney Channel and Disney XD. The initial batch of 10 episodes will then be available on Disney+ starting June 6th.

the decision to revive the show was an easy one, given its extraordinary streaming numbers.Disney reports that Phineas and Ferb has been streamed approximately 650 million hours on disney+ worldwide. Nielsen data also indicates that the show remains a top 10 animated kids’ series on streaming platforms, despite the lack of new content for a decade.

Why ‘Phineas and ferb’ Endures

Phineas and ferb,which originally aired for four seasons between 2007 and 2015,revolves around stepbrothers Phineas,with his distinctive triangular head,and the quieter Ferb,as they combat summer boredom by transforming their backyard into elaborate creations like ski resorts and monster truck rallies.

Unbeknownst to them, their pet platypus, Perry, leads a double life as a secret agent, code-named P, who regularly thwarts the evil plans of Doofenshmirtz, voiced by Povenmire.

The show appeals to both children and adults, blending references to Nietzsche with Girl Scouts. Each episode features an original song, often written by Povenmire and marsh. (“Squirrels In My Pants” remains a fan favorite.)

“It’s something that the whole family can enjoy together,” says Marsh. “We made a commitment never to cut anything just as somebody said it was too smart. We just believed kids are smarter then you think.”

The series had a long journey to the screen, conceived in 1993 but not premiering until 2007. Povenmire and Marsh, both veterans of shows like “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy,” shared a vision and persevered.

“Whenever anybody would ask us to pitch them something, we would always dust this off and say, ‘Well, here’s the show we really want.’ And most of the time people were just like, ‘I think it’s too complicated,'” says Povenmire.

The creators were committed to avoiding double entendres,eliminating mean-spirited humor,and portraying parents in a positive light. Even the characters frequently enough seen as villains,Candace and Doofenshmirtz,possess redeeming qualities.

“If you’re trying to get a laugh, shocking somebody or putting somebody down are the two easiest, cheapest laughs to get,” says Povenmire. “We’d made this decision to make it nicer than the shows that we had seen on the air at the time.”

The show has attracted numerous celebrity cameos,and the upcoming season continues this trend. Michael Bublé, John Stamos, Ted Lasso stars Brendan Hunt and Cristo Fernández, Alan Cumming, Leslie Jones, Anna Faris, Megan Rapinoe, Meghan Trainor and Ruth Negga are all set to make guest appearances.
