Now it is decided that it is Peter Svaar who becomes one of two NRK correspondents in the US. He takes over the baton from Tove Bjørgaas. She is also one of Svaar’s role models.

– She is a legend that has been several periods in Washington, and who has really just stood on and stood on, says Svaar.

He also highlights role models such as Fritz Nilsen, Tomm Kristiansen and one of the current Middle East correspondents, Yama Wolasmal.

– It is about being able to move people too, not just tell what is happening, and to tell a good story, he says.

Exciting time in the US

Peter Svaar has long experience in NRK. He already started as a 15-year-old. 30 years later, the United States becomes a workplace.

– The United States is in a very wrestling time. And having orchestra space for what’s happening in Washington DC now, and with Trump 2.0, is probably the most exciting thing to do as a reporter, says Svaar.
