Peruvian Cinema Showcased in Honduras

The Embassy of Peru in Honduras recently launched a film cycle to promote Peruvian cinema, fostering cultural exchange and collaboration.


The Embassy of Peru in Honduras inaugurated a peruvian cinema cycle on May 20, aiming to promote Peruvian art abroad. The event sought to broaden the reach of Peruvian filmmakers and strengthen cultural ties between the two nations.

Co-organized by the Cinemateca of the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH), the film cycle featured the screening of five Peruvian films. These films garnered meaningful interest and praise from both students and professors at the university.

The inauguration was attended by academics, authorities, members of the diplomatic corps, and filmmakers.Attendees enjoyed the screening of “Gallo weight” by filmmaker Hans Matos, a film set in the city of Huancayo.

Objectives and Impact

This activity aims to expand the horizons of Peruvian filmmakers allowing them to reach a diverse audience using the support of Peruvian missions abroad.

The primary goal of this initiative is to provide Peruvian filmmakers with opportunities to reach diverse audiences thru the support of Peruvian missions abroad.By showcasing Peruvian cinema, the embassy aims to foster a greater appreciation for peruvian culture and artistic expression.

Furthermore, the event seeks to strengthen collaboration between the Embassy of peru and the local academic community.This collaboration supports an annual policy focused on disseminating Peruvian film products within Honduras,enhancing cultural exchange and understanding.
