Penguins Ink Prospect Fernstrom too Entry-Level Deal

The young Swedish forward impressed in his first season after being acquired from Vancouver.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have officially signed forward Arvid Fernstrom to a three-year,entry-level contract,the team announced Friday. The 19-year-old is set to begin his professional career with the organization.
Fernstrom joined the Penguins earlier this year, arriving from the Vancouver Canucks as part of a trade in January. The deal saw Marcus Pettersson and Drew O’Connor head to Vancouver in exchange for the promising winger.
Fernstrom’s Breakout Season in Sweden
Prior to joining the Penguins organization, Fernstrom showcased his talent in Sweden. During the 2024-25 season, he split his time between Örebro HK in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) and the team’s J20 Nationell squad.
Over 48 games with the top team, Fernstrom scored eight goals and 17 points, earning the SHL’s Rookie of the Year.
With Örebro HK,Fernstrom played in 48 games,where he tallied eight goals and 17 points.His outstanding performance earned him the SHL’s rookie of the Year award. He topped all first-year players in goals, assists, and total points.
From Canucks Draft Pick to Penguins Prospect
The Vancouver Canucks initially selected Fernstrom in the third round of the 2024 NHL Draft. however, he was later traded to Pittsburgh, giving the Penguins a promising young talent to develop.
