Paul Reubens,the actor and comedian who created and embodied the beloved character Pee-wee Herman,has died at the age of 70. Reubens passed away on Sunday night after a private struggle with cancer, according to a statement released by his representatives.

Reubens created Pee-wee Herman in the late 1970s as a stage act, and the character quickly gained a cult following.Pee-wee’s childlike innocence and quirky humor resonated with audiences of all ages. The character’s popularity led to “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure,” Tim Burton‘s first major film, in 1985, and the successful children’s television show “Pee-wee’s Playhouse,” which ran from 1986 to 1991.
