Mads Pedersen secured a thrilling victory in the thirteenth stage of the Giro d’Italia 2025, a 180 km race from Rovigo to Vicenza.The Danish cyclist from Lidl-Trek, sporting the cyclamen shirt, outpaced the competition to claim the win.

Belgian cyclist Wout Van Aert (Team Visma | Lease A Bike) finished second, while Mexican rider Isaac Del Toro (UAE team Emirates-XRG), wearing the pink shirt, took third place, gaining valuable seconds in the overall standings.

A breakaway group of nine riders, including Luca Mozzato (Arkèa-B & B Hotels), Fran Miholjevic (Bahrain-Victorious), Dries de Bondt (Decathlon AG2R the World Team World Championship), Sven Erik Bystroem (Groupama-Fdj), Lorenzo Germani (Groupama-Fdj), Lorenzo Milesi (Movistar Movistar Team), Chris hamilton (Picnic Picnic Picnic), Mattia Bais (Team Polti Visitmalta) and Filippo Magli (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè), animated the stage. however, the peloton caught them in the final stretch. Germani and Scaroni then launched a late attack,but the general classification contenders were keen to contest the uphill finish.

Pedersen’s Decisive Sprint

Pedersen’s powerful sprint proved decisive, earning him his fourth victory. “It was really very tough, I had to do my best, it was an unbelievable day like this lap,” Pedersen told Raisport. “It is indeed really crazy, we arrived at the tour with the aim of two wins, but we are at five team wins, I took other points for the cyclamen shirt, it is incredible.”

Looking ahead, the 14th stage will take place tomorrow, a 195 km route from Treviso to Nova Gorica/Gorizia. This hilly stage precedes Sunday’s highly anticipated showdown.
