Beatles fans rejoice! Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr recently treated London to a truly special performance, reuniting on stage for the first time in what felt like forever. The surprise encore, part of McCartney’s ongoing tour at the O2 Arena, saw the legendary duo tear through classic Beatles hits "Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)" and "Helter Skelter," sending the crowd into a frenzy.
A Night of Beatlemania
The reunion was pure magic. McCartney, mid-set, invited Starr to join him on stage, asking "Should we rock?" before prompting his former bandmate to "Get on your kit lah!" The energy was electric as Starr, equally enthusiastic, stepped behind his drums, instantly transporting the audience back to the golden age of Beatlemania.
After their electrifying two-song set, Starr expressed his delight, declaring, "I’m off now but I’ve had a great night, love you all – especially this man." McCartney, beaming, added, "It’s fantastic, playing with me old mate, but there comes a time when we’ve got to go home."
The O2 Arena witnessed another special guest appearance that evening: Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, who joined McCartney for a performance of "Get Back."
A Look to the Future
Adding another layer of excitement to this unforgettable night, McCartney and Starr, along with their late bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison, will soon be portrayed on screen in a quartet of biopics directed by Sam Mendes. Paul Mescal is reportedly set to portray McCartney, while Barry Keoghan will play Starr in the films, which are targeting a 2027 release.
