Simpang Empat, sumbarsatu.com—Head of West Pasaman District Health Office, dr. Gina Alecia, M. Kes., Urged people throughout the village to increase awareness of the spread of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). This appeal follows the determination of the status of DHF’s extraordinary events (KLB) in Sungai Aur District which claimed two lives some time ago.

“Yes, we set KLB for twice 14 days. We invite all people in 90 West Pasaman Nagari to make preventive efforts with the term 3M Plus, which is to drain, close, and bury,” Gina told sumbarsatu.com, Wednesday (1/10/2025) at Simpang Empat.

3M Plus is the development of the 3M movement. In addition to draining water reservoirs regularly, closing tight water storage, and burying used goods that have the potential to collect rainwater, the community is also encouraged to maintain larvae, using mosquito nets or mosquito coils, installing wires on ventilation, and repairing waterways so as not to be inundated.

In addition, the DHO also encouraged the application of 3T in the medical field, namely finding DHF sufferers from an early age, following up with examinations and maintenance to health facilities, and organizing the surrounding environment so that transmission does not occur.

Aedes aegypti mosquito as a dengue virus carrier breeds in clean water such as bathtubs, dispensers, bottles, cans, used tires, to bird drinking containers. This mosquito is actively biting in the morning at 09.00-10.00 WIB and in the afternoon at 15.00-17.00 WIB.

DHF itself is a contagious disease due to dengue virus with sudden high fever symptoms, headaches, muscle or joint aches, nausea, skin rashes, to mild bleeding. If it is late handled, this disease can be fatal.

The Aur Sungai Puskesmas also reminded that the community would immediately seek treatment when experiencing prolonged fever. “DHF can be prevented if we together maintain the cleanliness of the environment,” said one of the local health workers.

To strengthen prevention efforts, the West Pasaman Regent has instructed all Nagari to intensify preventive measures and increase counseling to the community. (SSC/NIR)
