Bob Parlee, the founder of Parlee Cycles, initially applied his expertise in boat building to create cutting-edge bicycles. Since the early 2000s, Parlee has been synonymous with American-made, custom carbon fiber bikes.The Z-Zero GT continues this tradition, offering a blend of performance and bespoke craftsmanship.

According to Parlee, the Z-Zero GT is designed as a “fully modern road bike with updated geometry & future-forward compatibility, yet it pays homage to its lineage, carrying over the classic lines esteemed by riders everywhere.” The “GT” designation is inspired by high-performance Grand Touring cars, promising both speed and comfort for long rides. The company emphasizes that this is an entirely new design.

Sleek Integration: Internal Cable Routing

A key innovation in the Z-Zero GT is the integration of internal cable routing, a feature that enhances the bike’s clean lines. achieving this while maintaining the classic round tube frame appearance was a design challenge.

Unlike some Parlee models, the Z-Zero GT forgoes the oversized 1 1/2″ headtube. Rather, Parlee developed a new, in-house fork with a D-shaped steerer tube to accommodate the internal cables without compromising the bike’s traditional silhouette. This design also allowed for weight reduction and clearance for tires up to 40mm.

The Z-Zero GT is designed to meet the demands of modern cyclists. The frame offers 40mm tire clearance, mirroring the fork, and is compatible with both 1x and 2x drivetrain configurations.

For riders opting for a 1x setup, the Z-Zero GT incorporates the Global Derailleur Hanger (UDH) standard, ensuring compatibility with the latest SRAM direct mount systems.A T47 threaded bottom bracket further enhances the bike’s serviceability and performance.

Parlee has also focused on weight reduction, stating that “the new layup is a whopping 187 grams lighter than the prior Z-Zero. A entirely new layup and the use of cutting edge new materials let us build a bike that is stiffer and faster than any custom frame we’ve ever produced, whilst reducing weight and maintaining our legendary ride quality. A typical 53cm frame now weighs in at 893g.”

Staying true to its custom roots, “Every Parlee is assembled to order and ships with your own personal combination of crank lengths, stem length, bar width, seatpost setback, and saddle width to ensure the bike meets your every measurement, offering a perfect fit straight out of the box.”

In a departure from tradition, the Z-Zero GT is offered in twelve stock sizes, derived from “25 years of fit data.” These standard sizes are designed to accommodate “98% of riders, with your choice of Race or Sport fit.” Custom geometry options remain available for riders with unique fit requirements.

The Z-Zero GT also offers extensive customization options through Parlee’s “Paint Lab,” allowing customers to choose from “20 standard colors, or choose our signature Nude carbon finish to highlight the craftsmanship and save weight. Pricing and Availability

The Parlee Z-Zero GT frameset is available for order now, with a starting price of $12,490. Complete builds begin at $16,490 for models equipped with Shimano Force or Ultegra components. A top-tier build with Campagnolo’s new Super Record 13 groupset is priced at $22,990.

Due to high demand, Parlee anticipates extended lead times, noting that “Frames & bikes start shipping in August, and dealer pre-orders are already on the books. New orders are filled first come, first served. Current estimated delivery date for new orders is November 2025.”
