Šancl came on the pitch in the 66th minute and less than twenty minutes later he was already celebrating a goal. But he kept his joy to himself – he spread his arms and with the gesture “I’m sorry, gentlemen” made it clear that he would not be celebrating this time.
“My future in Baník is given, so I took it as respect for the club,” he explained after the match.
“Honestly, it’s a strange situation. But it depends on everyone how he behaves. If he eliminated us, it would have been worse,” smiled David Buchta, who sent Ostrava to the quarterfinals of the MOL Cup with two goals.
“I didn’t even notice that he wasn’t celebrating. But I took it for him, I was very happy,” laughed Pardubice coach Tomáš Polách.
At the same time, the whole situation around Šancel is rather unconventional. He has known about his move to Silesia since the summer, when the big transfer between Slavia and Baník took place. Erik Prekop headed to Eden, while David Planka and Ondřej Kričfaluš traveled to Ostrava. And Šancl is only supposed to arrive after the autumn part of the season.
“He showed that it was the right transfer. But I’ll probably talk to him about that goal again, if he meant it,” laughed Baník coach Tomáš Galásek.

Šancl himself admitted that he experienced the match against his future employer more than usual. “I was in a very difficult situation. Even if I didn’t want to, I had to think about it all day,” he said after the game. “The closer the match got, the more tension grew. I took it as an exceptional match. But I always want to do my best.”
From the moment he became part of the package to Baník, he gets less space in Pardubice. Logically, according to him. “I play a little less now, but I always give 100 percent in training. I understand that there are twenty-seven of us in the cabin and the coach can only point to a few players,” he explained.
The youth representative also described the transfer itself. “It was resolved during the national team meeting. I knew about Baník’s interest for a long time. I know that it is a big club, which attracted me – and that’s why I decided to leave,” Šancl said.
He said he did not feel pressure to leave. “If I had said that I didn’t want to, Slavia and Baník would have had to come to a different agreement. But I discussed it with the agent and the family and I felt that it was a good step for me,” he added.
