Logistics Manager Dies in Accident at Tri Valréna Center

An investigation is underway after a fatal accident at the waste treatment facility.


A logistics manager for the Paprec company, identified as Andres Cotanda, died in an accident this Friday at the Tri Valréna center. The SITOM Sud gard, which owns the facility, released a statement confirming the incident. Paprec has operated the installation since 2014.

Waste Tank Suspected in Fatal Incident

The incident occurred around 8:30 am. Preliminary findings suggest that a waste tank fell on the 60-year-old victim. Despite immediate medical intervention, the man died from his injuries.

Investigation Launched

Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the precise circumstances of the accident. According to the press release, Paprec has established a “Psychological listening unit… for its employees.”

Richard Tibérino, contacted by Midi Libre, added, “It was, as they say, an old man from the old one.He was very appreciated by everyone.”

The incident is reminiscent of a July 2023 accident where a 21-year-old died after being “absorbed” by a machine. The trial for that incident is scheduled for June at the Nîmes court.
