Papardo Hospital: Male Tumor Prevention – The Blue Path

by Archynetys Health Desk

Prostate cancer is the third leading cause of death for men in the world. Rarer are those in the testicle and penis

The awareness campaign dedicated to cancerous pathologies of the male genital sphere and the prevention of lung cancer will begin throughout the month of November. The Papardo Hospital Company, with the patronage of the Sicilian Foundation for Oncology, dyes the Day Hospital (Day hospital) Oncological.

This initiative serves to promote awareness of the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment paths. The “exclusively” male neoplasms are: prostate cancer – which represents the third cause of death for men throughout the world, but generally the first in terms of incidence, as life expectancy has increased, and although rarer, testicular cancer and penile cancer.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in men and the third in women, but if diagnosed at the first stage survival is around 70%. Unlike what happens with other tumors, think of breast cancer, which often have unknown and multifactorial causes, lung cancer on the contrary has a clear and completely avoidable cause: cigarette smoking. 85%-90% of lung cancers affect smokers, who are considered high-risk subjects. Knowing them to prevent them is the aim of this campaign.

Papardo Medical Oncology works for its patients in collaboration with the Foundation, directed by prof. Vincenzo Adamo, always close to the needs of cancer patients, also developing projects for new diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative approaches.

“In this special month we renew our commitment to build a future made up of more attention and support for those who live with the suffering of cancer” – says the strategic management, which has supported the work of Oncology Medicine and the entire Papardo Medical Oncology team since its inception, who work for the psychophysical well-being of patients.
