Jakarta

Flooding on Jalan Pantura Semarang-Demak this year is said to be getting worse. Many trucks broke down due to flooding in the area.

Reported detikJatengbased on observations on Jalan Kaligawe in front of RSI Sultan Agung, Thursday (30/10/2025), at 12.00 WIB, there were many trucks parked on the road. One of them was being towed because he couldn’t walk.

“The engine is taking in water, it’s breaking down, wait a minute,” said one of the drivers whose truck broke down, Anton (32), at the location.

One of the drivers from Pati, Eko (35), revealed the same thing. Even though his truck did not break down, he saw many trucks breaking down on Jalan Pantura Semarang-Demak, while driving from Probolinggo, East Java.

“I’ve never broken down, but lots of trucks break down because the engines are submerged in floods, the air filters are submerged, most of the air filters are submerged,” said Eko.

According to him, trucks that have just crossed Jalan Pantura should be immediately serviced and washed using fresh water. The reason is, the flood on Jalan Pantura was mixed with salt water caused by tidal waves in Pantura waters.

Eko himself has been using the tronton truck for the past month to pick up and carry motorbike loads from Jakarta to Surabaya.

“Since 2009 we have always experienced flooding, but this year it was the worst in Semarang. Previously it was the worst in Kudus, but this year it is worse in Semarang,” he continued.

He also chose to take the city route after his truck hit a flood. According to him, this needed to be done to dry the truck’s brakes.

Another truck driver, Didik (54), said the same thing. According to him, this year’s floods were the worst because they were quite high and never receding. He admitted that he was once stuck in traffic jam for up to four hours for just 2-3 kilometers of travel.

Meanwhile, Babinsa Terboyo Kulon Subdistrict, Sertu Suliman, said that currently the flood level in front of RSI Sultan Agung has reached 50-90 centimeters (cm) and caused many trucks to break down.

“The flood level is currently 50-90 cm, many trucks have broken down, most likely they don’t know (the condition of) the road,” he said.

“Small trucks with six wheels, four wheels, six wheels and above, eight wheels are safe,” he continued.
