The Paradise Panthers started out their 2025 campaign with a big home win, and will seek redemption in their Week 2 contest.

Paradise (1-0) hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to face Godley 7 p.m. Friday at Wildcat Stadium.

Godley is 0-1 after dropping its season opener against Alvarado last week, 72-7.

The Wildcats handed Paradise its first loss last season. Godley spoiled Paradise’s 2024 home-opener by escaping Panther Stadium with a 17-9 win.

Behind 284 passing yards and six touchdowns from quarterback Ayden Olalde, Paradise dominated Gainesville in front of the home fans in a 71-0 shutout victory in Week 1.

The win allowed the Panthers to jump to No. 2 in the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 3A Division I standings behind Columbus, moving Franklin down to third.

Decatur at Denison

The Decatur Eagles are looking to bounce back in Week 2 after a tough road loss last week.

Decatur (0-1) travels to battle Denison 7 p.m. Friday at Munson Stadium.

In its season opener last week, Denison (1-0) earned a 28-16 win in the Yellowjackets’ Battle of the Ax rivalry against Sherman.

The Eagles outgained the Yellowjackets 486-318 in a 48-14 win last season.

In its 2025 debut, Decatur was outscored 28-14 in the second half of a 52-31 road loss to Brock. Quarterback Rhys Ragan threw for 210 yards and two touchdowns, while running back Jamari Fletcher led the Eagles’ run game with 97 yards and one score on eight carries.

Jacksboro at Boyd

After earning a blowout road win to start the season, the Boyd Yellowjackets will turn on their home lights against a perennial opponent in Week 2.

Boyd (1-0) takes on Jacksboro 7:30 p.m. Friday at J.G. Cartwright Field at Yellowjacket Stadium.

The Tigers started the 2025 season at 0-1 following a 34-21 loss to Eagle Mountain last week.

In the teams’ meeting last season, the Tigers blew out the Yellowjackets at home, 67-22.

Boyd’s first campaign under coach Shawn Sparks started with a 57-6 Week 1 road win over Howe. Quarterback Cash Selby threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns in the win, and added a pair of scoring runs.

Trenton at Chico

The Chico Dragons are eying a 2-game win streak after claiming a narrow 1-point victory in their 2025 season opener last week.

Chico (1-0) opens Dragon Stadium with a battle against Trenton 7 p.m. Friday.

The Tigers enter the Week 2 contest with a 1-0 record after shutting out Celeste in their season debut, 42-0.

Trenton defeated Chico 24-12 last season — a loss that started the Dragons’ 9-game losing streak to end the 2024 season.

The Dragons edged Detroit 29-28 in Week 1. Quarterback Aron Mendoza rushed for 74 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Karrington Ransom totaled 24 carries for 165 yards.
