In Pakistan, a new case of polio has been confirmed, bringing Pakistan’s total toll this year to 30 cases, the National Institute of Health (NIH) Regional Polio Eradication Reference Laboratory announced.
He is a 12-month-old boy from Ghari Union Council, Torghar District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This is the second case in Torghar district this year.
Following this detection, the total number of polio cases in Pakistan in 2025 reached 30, including 19 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), nine in Sindh, one in Punjab and one in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Authorities are intensifying efforts to maintain full vaccination coverage and ensure the highest quality campaigns in vulnerable areas. The National Task Force approved the 2025-2026 roadmap to stop polio transmission through multiple additional vaccination campaigns and efforts to strengthen routine immunization. The fourth national polio vaccination campaign of 2025 was carried out last week, vaccinating more than 44 million children. The campaign is currently underway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (October 20-23).
